APMA’s is committed to bringing together different voices to move forward the agenda of chronic &/or persistent pain in Australia. We provide social support for people living with pain, through our Pain Support Group network and Pain Link Helpline, but note that often, the conversations we hear stem from systemic issues that are sometimes out of the control of people living with pain.

More than a traditional Clinical Advisory Group, the Pain Advisory Council will discuss how pain is represented across sectors, in processes and systems.

Members of the Pain Advisory Council are volunteers, donating their time and expertise.

Once a quarter, the PAC will meet to discuss a wide range of topics. Council members will assist APMA identify issues and priorities, make recommendations, advise on reform options, and support the efforts of APMA to drive change.

To achieve change, we work in partnership with others. This includes people who have lived experience, their families, carers, and supporters, as well as decision-makers, funders, advocates, frontline workers, and service providers, in academic, health, government and non-government sectors.

The Pain Advisory Council is still seeking members to represent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, Pharmacy and Veterans. We also anticipate the PAC will identify new roles and issues over time. To contact the council, please email councilsecretary@painmanagement.org.au. Read more about the members below.

The first items the council will discuss in 2022 have been prioritised by the Chief Executive Officer.
