Helping children with pain
Pain, Pain, Go Away: Helping Children With Pain was written by Canadian and Melbourne Children's Hospital teams to explain pain to parents and carers to better seek treatment. Measuring Pain gives examples of how younger children may convey their pain and the importance of including other measuring tools such as facial expressions, eating and sleeping when assessing pain. The booklet takes a holistic approach to managing pain, including medical, psychological and physical strategies including the power of touch. Parents/carers know their child best and are best placed to notify health professionals of their child's needs.
