APMA is primarily run by volunteers and there are many opportunities to get involved. As much work is undertaken from home, on-line or by telephone or teleconference, where you live will not prevent you becoming involved.

APMA will ensure that you are:

  • assisted to get the most out of your volunteering role by ensuring you receive the background information, supervision, training and follow-up support you need;
  • protected by our volunteer insurance coverage in case of unexpected accident;
  • able to meet and network with other volunteers, including APMA members and other people living with pain.

You may wish to consider contributing through one of the following volunteering roles:

Administrative work including liaison to support workers, database entry, filing, answering emails, membership processing are on-going. Computer skills are required, along with office experience.

Fundraising Manager:

Right now this is one of our most pressing needs. If you can help with motivating volunteers, and planning a fundraising calendar and team for the future growth of APMA, we'd love to hear from you.

Local events:

Organising activities locally to connect individuals with chronic pain and families in your community. This could include morning teas, BBQs, shopping centre promotions. APMA can put you in touch with the nearest pain support group facilitator.

Every effort, big or small, helps. Get in touch to discuss how APMA can support you through provision of signs, printed material, receipting for tax purposes or even for ideas to get you started.

Video production

We are looking to make a wide range of short accessible videos about APMA, chronic pain and our activities for our website and wider media.

Professional roles:

If you have professional skills and expertise that you may be able to offer on a pro bono basis, we'd love to hear from you. Legal, accounting, book-keeping, marketing, training, IT and design skills will all be of enormous benefit. This could be on an on-going business (we'd love to accept an offer to undertake our annual audit) or for specific projects or tasks (eg develop a marketing plan to fund us to actually pay some of our workers).

APMA volunteer positions are available on Seek website.
