To enhance the wellbeing of all Australians living with chronic pain through supported self- efficacy.
Pain relief is a human right and achievable in the 21st Century. All Australians living with chronic pain or in caring roles are entitled to a quality of life which includes:
- Timely access to safe high quality healthcare;
- Empowerment to manage their own care
- Education and training to develop the skillset needed to best manage ongoing pain;
- Social and workplace support
- Respectful and informed understanding of chronic pain
Values build trust, credibility and commitment and are important statements of what people can expect when they deal with an organization. The following values guide APMA's work.
When dealing with APMA you can expect us to be:
Accessible: We will be accessible to people with chronic pain and other key stakeholders through clear and effective communication methods. The information that we provide will be easy to understand and will clearly articulate how to contact APMA.
Accountable: We will aim to achieve our objectives in a transparent manner. Part of this transparency is being open to appropriate levels of scrutiny and ensuring that any conflicts of interest are disclosed and acted upon.
Excellence: We will strive to do our best and continually seek ways to improve how we do things. In doing this we will seek to promote a learning culture with the aim of ensuring continuous improvement.
Evidence-based: We will strive to ensure that all information and options provided by APMA in relation to chronic or persistent pain, self-management and health generally is based upon the most up-to-date peer-reviewed medical-science and promote evidence-based policies and practice at all times.
Person-centred: We will respect and value the knowledge, abilities and experiences of people with chronic pain and respond in ways that suit your particular needs, wishes and circumstances. In fulfilling our role, we will try to achieve the best possible outcomes for people with chronic pain.
Responsive: We will provide timely assistance to people who contact APMA. Our services will focus on supporting people experiencing chronic pain and addressing the issues raised.
